I had a great family Easter weekend; we made cakes, played games, ate food and had loads of fun. I thought that I would share with you all some of the cakes I made over the Easter weekend which was quite a few.
The first cupcakes I made were with my lovely Madge, she is a cake decorating magician her cakes are amazing. So it was about time that I tried my hand at cake decorating (and if I do say so myself I am a piping wizard).
Ingredients:
225g Unsalted Butter
225g Caster Sugar
225g Self-raising Flour
1tsp Baking Powder
4 Eggs
1tsp Vanilla Essence
Recipe:
1. Preheat the oven to 175ºC (350ºF / Gas Mark 4).
2. Place 18 paper baking cases in muffin tins.
3. Place all the ingredients in a medium bowl and beat with an electric whisk until smooth and pale.
4. Spoon the mixture into the cases and bake for 20 minutes.
5. Remove tins from the oven and cool for 5 minutes
It was so fun learning a new skill which defiantly can impress your friends.
The second cake I made this Easter weekend was chocolate nests, who doesn't love a good chocolate nest and they are so simple to make.
Ingredients:
1 Box of Shredded Wheat
As much Chocolate as you wish to consume
Mini Eggs (They can not be nests without the eggs)
Recipe:
1. Melt Chocolate over the stove
2. Crush Shredded Wheat
3. Mix both ingredients together
4. Place in baking cases
5. Leave to cool
This recipe is so simple, there is no cooking involved. Its a great activity to do with kids or adults everyone loves a chocolate nest.
I hope you have all had a great Easter weekend, I would love to know if you baked or cooked anything special this weekend with friends or family.
