Clio Update

We have had Clio now for 3 months and that time has gone really quickly. Thankfully she has not got any bigger otherwise she would be a small horse.
I am still not too sure how I feel about her. At the beginning I loved her because she was quiet, she didn't jump and she did what we said. Now it's a different story. She's found her voice, or shall I say her bark. As she grew more comfortable around us she seemed to turn into what I can only describe as a toddler - she gets told off, has to have timeout and has the biggest sad face.

Along with the barking she has started to jump up. I know that she only wants to play and it is not vicious, but I dont think she realises how big she is. I have got numerous scrathes on my arms, legs and stomach from where she jumps up at me – which I am not impressed about. When she jumps up I can honestly say it scares me. She is so big I have nearly fallen over quite a few times.

Clio has also taken a fancy to shoes (hear the girls scream)! We have a shoe rack by the front door that she takes shoes from and runs into the garden to chew them to pieces. What Clio does, which she thinks is clever, is that she chews nothing indoors - she takes them into the garden to chew. What Clio doesn't understand is that we can see her run from inside the house with the shoe into the garden. I have already lost 2 pairs of shoes; 1 beautiful pair of gold havaianas and a pair of sandals. Thankfully summer shoes which are no longer needed.

What I have managed to do is teach her 3 tricks, which I am so proud of. The first one was sit, which was quite easy as she did that when ever she thought we were giving her food, so all she had to learn was doing it on command. The next one was paw, or as I prefer high 5. This was a little trickier but we got there and now she doesn't stop doing it. The last trick was lay/down. I am so impressed with myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and teaching her these tricks. Now I just need to teach her to roll over and to leave my shoes alone!

O' Mr Sun how I love thee

I thought I would share with you all just how much I am loving the sunshine in the UK right now. The sun brightens up everyones day, if you have had a rubbish day at work sitting in the garden with a nice cider enjoying the sun is the best remedy.

Lovely view from the garden

The sun makes everyone look a little bit healthier and happier, we have a bounce in our step. My mood is definitely effected by the weather so I am super happy at the moment and getting lots done.

Family day at the common eating loads of icecream

Another thing that comes out when the sun appears is suncream and I can honestly say that it is my favourite smell in the whole world. I apply it a lot throughout the day just so I can smell it, strange but true. Also icecream vans appear which is the best thing as my favourite icecream is a Zap and you can only buy these from icecream vans which deeply upsets me.

Street party water fun with my brother

I really do love the sun and I am so glad to see that it is staying for a while. I have had a lot fun doing things outside the house rather than sitting in my onesie in front of the television. I would love to hear what you have been doing in the sun.

Enjoy the sun everyone!

Introducing Clio...

This time last week was the first full day of being a dog owner. I have never been a dog owner before so it was a little scary. Growing up I had pets, I had a fish, hamster, guinea pig and rabbit but we never had a dog or cat and I didn't know anyone who had a dog or cat.

When I was younger I had an encounter with a giant black poodle. I remember the poodle being massive but it probably wasn't. The "GIANT" black poodle got excited about my ponytail whilst I was scooting around the park. I know now that all he wanted to do was play but back then he was jumping up and trying to bite my hair which absolutely terrified me. Because of this incident I have been a little scared of dogs. They can be in the room but as soon as they jump up or bark at me I got scared.

Simon was the first person I met that had both a dog and cat this scared me at first. This is until I met his dog she was called Mabel she didn't do anything, she slept, she got up, moved to a warmer spot then slept, all day! The cat Jess we have a mutual agreement she doesn't come near me as she knows she will not get any attention. After living with Simon for a couple of years sadly Mabel died, Simon's family were really upset and I understood why I just couldn't feel it myself.

Then last month they decided as a family to get a new dog, so last week we ventured down to Battersea Dogs Home to have a look around. I never thought we would walk in and walk out on the same day with a dog but we did. Her name is Clio.

Clio is a 8 month stray dog taken in by Battersea, they do not know what breed she is, she looks like a mix of loads of different breeds, she is a packet of skittles! The staff at Battersea told us Clio was a shy dog who got scared easily, who needed time to adjust and space to be on her own. This was the perfect dog for our household.

When we brought Clio home she was very excited about everything she ran around and sniffed everything in her path, quite quickly she became used to us and her surroundings.I have quickly found a bond with Clio and now understand why people fall in love with dogs.

As she is still only young she only knows how to sit by command but we are slowly teaching her new tricks and commands. I will let you all know how the journey goes and hopefully my love for her will keep on growing.

April's Favourites

Where did that month go, it went past so quick I barely feel like it happened. April was a good month for me I was very busy which is probably why it went by so fast. I have had loads of birthdays including my brother and sister, new job opportunities and lots of new Elephant Bum things going on (which is all very exciting!)

I thought I would share with you all my favourites things from April. It is a mix all of different stuff that I quickly became obsessed with throughout April.

The first thing that I fell in love with was my Zara bag! I love it! The Office City Bag, that is what I am now, a city worker gal! It has a place for everything, two padded sections one for your laptop and the other for your ipad, two massive sections for general stuff and two massive zipped pockets. I love this bag and would recommend it to anyone who needs that perfect bag for carrying everything.

My beautiful bag!

I love this Dove 'Go Fresh' deodorant it doesn't just smell good it actually does what a deodorant is supposed to do. The smell defiantly does help though! It is in the new compressed size for deodorants, I have now had it for a month and it is still going strong so maybe not all adverts lie.

Dove 'Go Fresh' pomegranate and lemon verbena scent

Now this one is a little old school. Remember when we were all 13 and declaring our love for Seth Cohan from The OC well thats me again at 21. I do not know how this has happened but I have become obsessed with The OC, I have already finished season 1 and starting season 2 this evening.

Who doesn't love themselves a Comic Book Geek, I certainly found mine.

The Maybelline 'Super Stay 24' have become my favourite coverage for my lips. I currently have 2 colours 'Fire Corail' which is an orange colour and 'Cherry Red' which a deep tone of red. I love them, they do last all day which is good because you don't have to think about re-applying. I am defiantly going to purchase more of these. Let me know if you have any colours and which ones you feel look good.

Well done Maybelline!

The last thing I have been obsessed with this month are my beanie hats, I have now got 4 colours but these have been my favourites. I have worn them all weathers which England have currently had this past month.

They also hide slightly greasy hair!

These have been my slight obsessions this month (Simon would say more than slightly). I would love to know if you have loved anything this month so please leave a link below and I will check it out.

I hope you are all having an awesome Sunday in the sun!

Friends for life

Last night I met with my girlies for a quick drink in the pub and it turned into 2 bottles of wine (which is usually what happens when we get together). I don’t see my friends often due to us all having a “grown up working life” but when I do see them it is like we haven’t been apart.

I am lucky enough to of had the same friends for practically all my life with a few additions along the way. In total I have known my friends for 17 years of my life that is basically all of it, the only down fall for this is they know everything about me and my past, this means embarrassing stories will never stay hidden.

I love my group of friends as we could not be more different from each other but it just works as we have all grown up together. Most people don’t understand why we are such a close group of people because we are all so different but that is what I love about us.

Sometimes friendships can be hard and you will go through some ups and downs but my motto on friendship is that “when you need them, true friends will be there”. When my friends left for university I wouldn’t see them for up to 6 months at a time, which was hard at first but when they came back for weekends it felt like we hadn’t been apart.

I love my girls more than most things in my life and I am so lucky to have them by my side when I need them. So my message to you all is find your true friends and keep hold of them and do not let them go. If you are finding it hard to find your true friends just be patient they will show themselves when you need them most.
