Triathlon

Last weekend the time had arrived for Simon to take part in his Triathlon, It was such an exciting and nerve racking day. The Triathlon was at Eton Dorney Lake, for those of you who dont know this is where the rowing took place in last summers 'London Olympic Games' it was such an experience to be there a year on from such a great event.

The race started a 12:55pm the competitors start with the 400m swim, which for Simon who is a swimmer was hopefully going to be his best section of the race. Simon finished the swim in well under 10 minutes which is a great time! Then comes the transition stage which meant he had to take off the wetsuit (which was compulsory as the water was less than 14 degrees) put on his shoes and helmet and then off he goes, sounds simple! Yet Simon took 4:30 minutes to do this, I wish I could of witnessed the transition stage.

After the swim is the cycle, Simon has done a lot of training for this section of the race so hopefully this was also going to be a good time. The cycle was 21k which was 4 laps around the lake. Simon did this section in 43 minutes which yet again was a fantastic time.

The last stage of the triathlon is the run, this is the section he was dreading. It is safe to say Simon is not a runner and he did not train enough for this section of the race. Despite this Simon did not stop at any point he either ran or walked. It was at this section of the race that you could tell Simon was tired by the look on his face. He finished the run in 33 minutes which for Simon is a great time.

Overall Simon took 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the triathlon which I am so proud of him for, it is a great time for a novice racer. He was completely tired after the race and hurt a little the next day but it has not put him off, he is already excited about next years race and wanting to beat his current time.

Simon taking this race head on has defiantly inspired me to get active. I am so proud of him for achieving what he did on Sunday and looking forward to the next race. I would love to know if anyone else took part in the Triathlon weekend and Eton Dorney and if you did WELL DONE!!

The Countdown is Over!

What I have been working on for the past couple of months is officially now open to the world, and it is a little scary.

Since the New Year I have been trying to figure out my plans for the future and one day it came to me, design my own graphic tees! Well today is that day that you can now buy official Elephant Bum Tees.

Click on the shop button above and it will re-direct you to the shop, go wild!

I hope that you all love my designs as much as I enjoyed designing them. I would really love to see how you style up your Elephant Bum Tees.

Craft #003 Decopatch

A few weeks back me and my madge went to the craft fair at the excel. It was a great day but was so busy you could hardly get to look at the products which was a shame. The one craft we did get a good look at was the Decopatch, they offered you the opportunity to have a go for free on a coaster. Anything free and crafty is defiantly not going to go a miss, so we took a seat and waited for our go.

We soon fell in love with the craft and couldn’t get enough of it. It is so simple, you choose which paper you wish to use (a special paper that has a waxy coating on the outside, it is not just tissue paper which we soon learnt), choose what you wish to cover (which is anything, there was actually a decopatched car at the show!) then get crafty.

The guy on the stall gave us 4 steps to decopatch, which were.

1.     Rip your decopatch paper into small squares.
2.     Put glue on the [insert what you are decopatching here].
This is a special glue that works as a varnish as well as a glue.
3.     Place your paper on top of the glue
4.     Glue on top of the decopatch paper.

Simple!

The one tip he gave us was to not use loads of glue. So after sitting for an hour at the decopatch table I had fallen in love with this new craft.

For Christmas I had received a small cardboard letter ‘D’, ‘S’ and ‘&’ , I knew straight away this is how I was going to put my new found craft to action. This is what I ended up with.

Decopatch is such a great craft it is easy to learn and can easily be done in front of the television. I can’t wait to see what I will decopatch next, shoes maybe?

April's Favourites

Where did that month go, it went past so quick I barely feel like it happened. April was a good month for me I was very busy which is probably why it went by so fast. I have had loads of birthdays including my brother and sister, new job opportunities and lots of new Elephant Bum things going on (which is all very exciting!)

I thought I would share with you all my favourites things from April. It is a mix all of different stuff that I quickly became obsessed with throughout April.

The first thing that I fell in love with was my Zara bag! I love it! The Office City Bag, that is what I am now, a city worker gal! It has a place for everything, two padded sections one for your laptop and the other for your ipad, two massive sections for general stuff and two massive zipped pockets. I love this bag and would recommend it to anyone who needs that perfect bag for carrying everything.

My beautiful bag!

I love this Dove 'Go Fresh' deodorant it doesn't just smell good it actually does what a deodorant is supposed to do. The smell defiantly does help though! It is in the new compressed size for deodorants, I have now had it for a month and it is still going strong so maybe not all adverts lie.

Dove 'Go Fresh' pomegranate and lemon verbena scent

Now this one is a little old school. Remember when we were all 13 and declaring our love for Seth Cohan from The OC well thats me again at 21. I do not know how this has happened but I have become obsessed with The OC, I have already finished season 1 and starting season 2 this evening.

Who doesn't love themselves a Comic Book Geek, I certainly found mine.

The Maybelline 'Super Stay 24' have become my favourite coverage for my lips. I currently have 2 colours 'Fire Corail' which is an orange colour and 'Cherry Red' which a deep tone of red. I love them, they do last all day which is good because you don't have to think about re-applying. I am defiantly going to purchase more of these. Let me know if you have any colours and which ones you feel look good.

Well done Maybelline!

The last thing I have been obsessed with this month are my beanie hats, I have now got 4 colours but these have been my favourites. I have worn them all weathers which England have currently had this past month.

They also hide slightly greasy hair!

These have been my slight obsessions this month (Simon would say more than slightly). I would love to know if you have loved anything this month so please leave a link below and I will check it out.

I hope you are all having an awesome Sunday in the sun!
